The Difference Between Weather and Climate and UK Seasons

What’s the difference between “weather” and “climate”?

“Weather” and “climate” are two different things. “Weather” is what we experience in the short term; when people say it’s been warm lately, they mean the weather has been warm. “Climate” is what happens over a much longer term. If people say the world is getting hotter, they are usually talking about the long-term climate of the earth.

It is important to understand the difference between these two terms because sometimes, when people say they don’t “believe” in climate change because (for instance) the winter has been exceptionally hard, they are only viewing things through their own perspective. It might have been cold in one area over a winter, but that does not mean the climate of the earth is cooling down.
