A Guide to the University Alliance

University Alliance is a non-political organisation that includes 24 business engaged UK universities. They work to “promote, safeguard and sustain the public benefit delivered by universities on behalf of our members”. The focus of the group is, in essence, the combination of science and technology research and how this can benefit businesses and communities. The group was formed in 2006 and by 2007 had adopted its current name of the University Alliance.

In practical terms, the purpose of the consortium is to bring together universities, the government and businesses to create solutions to both social and economic challenges (of which we are sadly not short of at present in the UK).

Innovation and enterprise are key concepts for all the universities within University Alliance – not only in the way they are run but also through their teaching methods, the impact of their research and their role in their communities. Their work is not only carried out throughout the UK but also internationally. Their key areas of work focus are based on the following themes: driving growth, research-led innovation, enterprise universities, empowering students, growing future talent, committing to social responsibility and finally rebalancing investment.

If a focus on business and technology appeals to you, read on for key facts and the universities that are part of the University Alliance. Perhaps one of them is the university for you!
