Apprenticeship Profiles

So we’ve provided loads of information for you in our amazing Apprenticeship section, but you still might need to know more about the day to day life of being an apprentice. Well, who are we to disappoint you?! Here we have some Apprenticeship profiles from young people who are already out there working as an apprentice:

Business and Administration Apprenticeship

“I started my apprenticeship because I wanted to begin a career in administration. I was returning to study after a break so wanted to learn in a relaxed and supportive environment. The course has allowed me to learn new skills which I can utilise in my everyday role. For example, creating PowerPoint presentations and learning how to take minutes for a meeting.

I work as a Library Apprentice in a small team. Some tasks that I am involved in during my working day include assisting staff and students in accessing resources, developing subject user guides, producing library displays and maintaining library records. I work closely with the team and have spent time with each of the Library Assistants learning about their individual roles.”

Bricklaying Apprenticeship

“My apprenticeship allowed me to set up my own business.” This student joined their college after completing a course in horticulture. They have now completed their Level 2 course in Bricklaying and have set up their own business. They will also be attending college next year on a part-time basis to complete their Level 3 in Bricklaying.

Childcare Apprenticeship

“Whilst working as an Apprentice Nursery Nurse, I have been based in the baby suite of the nursery. This has allowed me to learn on the job whilst also gaining relevant experience. I feel the course has been really worthwhile and I would recommend apprenticeships at colleges.”

Electrical Apprenticeship

After successfully completing an Advanced Apprenticeship with a major local contractor, this student decided to set up in business on his own. Recently he has taken on his own apprentice. He commented that being an apprentice had “given him the skills he needed to fulfil his ambition to work for himself”.

We hope that these Apprenticeship profiles have given you some insight into the life of an apprentice. Hopefully, after your apprenticeship, you will have similar success stories to tell yourself in years to come once- get in touch with us to let us know how you get on!
