Cardiff Metropolitan University is on of Wales' oldest universities, having been founded in 1865. The university is now made up of five different academic schools: Cardiff School of Art & Design, Cardiff School of Education, Cardiff School of Health Science, Cardiff School of Management and Cardiff School of Sport.

Background and History

Cardiff Metropolitan University celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2015. The University first came into existence in 1865 when the first Cardiff School of Art was founded. Since then, the university has expanded and now operates across two campuses and is home to over 17,000 students, studying from a choice of a 100 different courses.

Location and Accessibility 

Cardiff Metropolitan University is split into two different campuses: Llandaff Campus and Cyncoed Campus.

Llandaff Campus: Home to the schools of Health Sciences, Management and Art and Design, Llandaff campus is a 20 minute walk from Waun-Gron railway station, which is on the City Line.

The Campus can also be reached during term time by the U1, U2 and U3/U4 MetRider buses which travel hourly to the campus from Cyncoed campus, Roath, Cathays and Cardiff city centre.

Cyncoed Campus: Home to the School of Education and the School of Sport, Cyncoed campus is a 25 minute walk away from Heath High Level and Heath Low Level railway stations on the Rhymney and Coryton lines.

The Campus can also be reached by bus - the 52/52A travels from the city centre every 15 minutes, while during term time the U1 MetRider bus travels between the two campuses every hour.
