Situated in the North West of England, in the famous city of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University is a modern British university. With three large campuses in the city, you're never far from a university base in the UK's fourth most populous city.

  

Background and History

The University was named after John Moores, an English businessman and philanthropist most famous for the founding of the Littlewoods retail company. Prior to this, the university was known as Liverpool Mechanics' School of Arts and later Liverpool Polytechnic before gaining university status in 1992, thus becoming Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). The university is now a member of the University Alliance, a mission group of business orientated British universities established in 2007.

Location and Accessibility

The university is accessible via rail, bus and car. Liverpool is an easy city to get to due to great links train links via Lime Street Station and the M62 motorway.

City Campus: Located close to the William Brown Street area, near to St Georges Hall, the Walker Art Gallery, the Liverpool Museum and Central Library.

Mount Pleasant: Located mainly between the city's two Cathedrals. Most of this area is covered by designated conservation areas and several university buildings are statutorily listed as being of architectural or historic interest.

IM Marsh: Located approximately 4 miles south of the City Centre. Holmefield House is a listed building in the IM Marsh Campus. The site area of the IM Marsh Campus is 7.5 hectares.

What's on Offer

LJMU is the only institution in the North West of England to be awarded Skillset Media Academy status. It is therefore specialised in offering media training programmes. Other key areas include: public health, teacher education, subjects allied to medicine, engineering, computing science, astrophysics, sport and exercise sciences.Types of qualification offered are:
