Ruskin College is an independent educational institution in Oxford specialising in the provision of educational opportunities to those adults without qualifications. Ruskin Hall, the teaching centre, is located about three and a half miles outside of the town of Oxford.

General information

Founded in 1899, Ruskin College was originally designed to provide the working classes with university standard education so that working class organisations could operate more effectively. Today, it remains an independent college that specialises in providing educational opportunities for adults with few or no qualifications, aiming to change the lives of those who need a second chance in education within the informal setting of a small residential college.

The college is an affiliate, not a constituent of the University of Oxford, allowing students special privileges such as attending lectures and the use of most facilities.
