There are ten strands to PESSYP:
- Club links: schools can create better links with clubs by working with national government bodies.
- Competition: schools should take part in the National School Sport Week as well as organising intra and inter school competitions.
- Coaching: more funding can be provided for school coaches.
- Continuing professional development: this is for teachers and is aimed at them developing new skills through training programmes like the National CDP programme and LDA courses.
- Gifted and Talented: this is aimed at discovering talent within schools.
- Swimming: this is focused on increasing the number of pupils swimming with a goal of at least 25m.
- Leadership and volunteering: this aims to get more young people volunteering and engaged with their community.
- Disability: the goal is to get more people with disabilities involved in sport and was set up by Multi-Sport Disability Clubs.
- Extending activities: this looks at activities outside the regular types found in schools.
- Infrastructure: this focuses on school sport partnerships and specialist school colleges.

A Top Tip!
Make a copy of this section and put in a place that you often look at. i.e. front of a journal, next to a mirror, on a kitchen cupboard door, etc. That way you can do some cheeky PE revision whilst doing those things you have to do!
