It is important that you can begin to make connections between texts that have similarities. Your ability to do this shows how well you understand one text by your chosen topic of comparison. You may chose to include texts from a similar period, on a similar topic, because they take the same position on an important theme, because they are by the same author or anything else that you think is worthy of comparison.
Comparison does not always mean that they are different, often it means examining the similarities between texts and how the author has achieved similar effects.
