Circomedia is a contemporary circus and physical theatre school, based in Bristol. The school was founded in 1993 by Bim Mason and Helen Crocker, and rose up to replace Fooltime, Britain's first ever circus school. The school places a strong emphasis on combining traditional circus skills with physical theatre and creativity, which makes it very different from most other circus schools.
The school offers full-time degrees, diplomas and BTEC courses, as well as foundation courses and adult evening classes.
Circomedia operates across two sites, a Victorian school on the outskirts of Bristol and a restored 18th century church in the city centre.
The Victorian school at the Kingswood site boasts four training spaces, which include 3 aerial spaces, and a mirrored studio. In terms of academic facilities, the building also has a library, an IT suite and a quiet study room.
St Paul's Church in Portland Square houses the UK's largest indoor trapeze rig and aerial facilities. The church is also home to Circomedia's youth circus and is used as a performance space by other professionals in the field.
