Yeovil College is a tertiary institution and further education college based in Yeovil, Somerset, England with about 9000 students enrolled. It also caters for higher education students by providing university-level courses in conjunction with the universities of Bournemouth, Gloucestershire and UWE.
Background and history
The College was first formed in 1887 when Somerset County Council began formally organizing Science and Art classes in Yeovil. In 1947 it became a technology college under its first appointed principal and later, in 1974 it became one of the earliest tertiary providers of education in the UK.
Location and accessibility
The college provides transport support by offering discount bus passes to its students. Yeovil College provides education for 16+ students with qualifications including: A-levels, GCSEs, BTEC Diplomas and the 14-19 Diplomas. The College also offers a variety of part-time courses and apprenticeships, as well as business training and short courses for adults.In addition, foundation and higher degrees are available thanks to the college's partnership with several prominent universities in the South West.
Yeovil College offers students a range of courses, from full-time A-level and vocational courses, apprenticeships, part-time courses, business training and honours degrees. Subject areas include:

Financial assistance is available from the college with grants like 16-19 Bursary Funds, Adult Discretionary Support Funds, 24+ Advanced Learning Loans and British Army Further Education Bursary Scheme. There is also tuition fee advice for students over the age of 19.
The college has two hair salons and a beauty salon located across their Mudford Road and North Dorset campuses. They offer services including cuts, colours, manicures, pedicures and tanning all provided by the college's trainees. A multi-purpose sports hall and fitness suite are on offer at the college's main campus, as well as a variety of sports clubs and teams to become a member of. These facilities are open to the public too, but college students pay a greatly reduced membership fee.
The Da Vinci restaurant was a part of the college's £1.4 million Nexus development plan and caters to students and the public. The kitchen and restaurant are fully staffed by college trainees.
