About Writtle College
Address and Location
Writtle College is a university college located near Chelmsford, Essex, on a 220-hectare site. It caters to around 17,000 students across a wide range of course and subject areas. It has a partnership with the nearby University of Essex.Background and History
The college was established in 1893 and has specialised in training for land-based industries and organisations for 110 years. It attracts students from over 50 international countries and its Design School was ranked 4th nationally in the Guardian League Table of 2012.Location and Accessibility
Situated two miles outside of Chelmsford, the main Writtle campus is just a few minutes' walk from the major bus route through Writtle village. Sports Fitness facilities are at the heart of the Gym and Recreation Centre that houses a sports hall, squash courts, fitness classes and a state-of-the-art fitness suite, with membership at £80 for the year.
Catering Retail the campus is home toThe Garden Room the restaurant that serves the college. There are also groceries and stationery on sale. Additionally, theWatering Hole is the restaurant that is found on the Cow Watering Campus.
Accommodation is dealt with at the college byThe Accommodation and Student Services Office, and consists of 382 rooms in14 Halls of Residence. In addition, the campus is also home to the library, computer suite, bar and laundry service. There is a Students' Union located on site that puts on numerous events and organises the running of societies throughout the calendar.
