Tameside College is a further education college that caters primarily for 14-19 year olds in the Greater Manchester area. It operates from its main campus in Ashton-under-Lyne, as well as from three additional learning centres in the surrounding areas.
Background and history
Tameside College is a further and higher education institution that dates back to the early 1960s. It has existed in its current state since 1998 following the merger of Tameside College of Technology and Hyde-Clarendon College.
Location and accessibility
The college has four campuses located across Ashton-under-Lyne, Hyde and Droylsden. The campuses are available by road and rail, but also benefit walkers and cyclists. Details concerning access to each campus/learning centre are readily available on the college website.
What's on offer?
The college offers a range of courses for students from Ashton-under-Lyne and the surrounding area. These courses include NVQs, BTECs, Apprenticeships and Access courses. Additionally, the college also runs Hyde Clarendon Sixth Form for school leavers looking to undertake A/AS-level studies. Furthermore, in conjunction with local universities, the college can cater for honours courses.
The college offers a range of courses encompassing full-time studies, vocational qualifications, university degrees, apprenticeships and A-levels.

Finance funding
The college offers support for HE students in dealing with Student Finance England to provide funding for their living costs and tuition fees. In addition, the college also provides information on how FE students can apply for bursaries and learning support grants.
Tameside Centre for Enterprise is a business centre that offers incubation space and support for people starting new businesses, accelerator programmes for growing businesses and conference facilities including meeting rooms.
Reflections Restaurant is the college's dining facility ran and staffed by the catering students under the care of industry-standard professionals and tutors. Lunch is available Tue-Fri and dinner available Wed Thu.
The Elysium Centre is a fully operational Hair Beauty salon run by full- and part-time students who are supervised by qualified trainers and assessors. The centres are located in Ashton and Hyde and offer a large range of beauty treatments, plus hair appointments for the public and fellow students.
