About Northumberland College

Situated in the North East of England, Northumberland College has eight centres spread out across Northumberland, from Berwick in the North to Hexham in West. The main campus of the Further Education College can be found in the town of Ashington.

General information

Northumberland College is the largest provider of education and training in Northumberland and has been providing training to people and businesses throughout Northumberland and the wider North East region for over 50 years. The college houses eight centres throughout Northumberland:- Alnwick construction centre, Berwick main centre, Berwick construction centre, Berwick Graduate Salon, Hexham Campus, Kirkley Hall campus, Mobile Learning Centre, and the Prudhoe Construction centre.

The main campus in Ashington offers the largest range of courses. The stunning rural campus, Kirkley Hall near Ponteland, is home to land based and animal based courses as well as outdoor education and renewable energies.

Courses & Fees

The College offers further education to 16-18 year olds and adults, higher education, apprenticeships and training for employers. These courses, from Entry Level to Foundation Degree level (HNC, HND), are available in wide variety of subjects and they can be studied either full-time or part-time.Typical course subject areas include:- Accounting- Agriculture- Business Administration- Construction- Hospitality and Catering- Engineering.

The courses at Northumberland College are primarily vocational and many subjects are taught in realistic working environments. The college is proud of having industry links with regional, national and international employers, which ensures that the training reflects the latest industry standards.

Facilities at Northumberland College

The college has many places to eat and drink across the campuses. The Ashington campus' main refectory and the Kirkley Hall Bar prove very popular among students, as well as other Deli's and cafe's available. Furthermore, the Wansbeck Restaurant is known to be a nice place to enjoy the food created by aspiring catering students.

The college has Learning Resource Centres (LRCs) at both Ashington and Kirkley Hall that include a range of learning material resources, IT suites with internet and email access, and quiet study areas.

Sports and Leisure facilities at Ashington and Kirkley Hall include well-equipped college gyms. The Hair and Beauty Salons meet all the requirements for students wishing to obtain experience in realistic settings.
