About Middlesex University
Address and Location
Middlesex University (MU) is located in Hendon, North London, having previously been spread across a number of sites in the city. The university also has several partner campuses across the globe.Background and History
Although various parts of MU can trace their origins back to the late nineteenth century, the history of the institution as it now exists began in 1973, with the formation of Middlesex Polytechnic. The polytechnic became a university in 1992, expanding to three campuses and then consolidating all of its teaching facilities at the current Hendon site.Location and Accessibility
By Rail: The university campus is easily accessed via the Tube, with Hendon Central the closest station. National Rail services connect to Hendon Station, a ten-minute walk away.
By Road: Driving to the university is easier at MU than other universities in the capital. The Hendon campus is accessible from Junction 1 of the M1.
Accessibility: Most university facilities are wheelchair-accessible and accommodation is provided for students with disabilities.

MU is host to a number of centres of excellence; the university's business school, mental health and social work departments are all highly-regarded. Facilities at Middlesex University
Academic Facilities
Since the university's teaching was consolidated at Hendon, significant investment has been made at the site. Lecture and laboratory facilities are of a high standard. With University College London, MU runs the Royal Free Hospital, Chase Farm and North Middlesex hospitals, all of which have excellent nursing, midwifery and mental health facilities.Other on-site Amenities
The Hendon campus has excellent sports facilities including a gym, grass tennis courts and a variety of campus bars and eateries.Medical and Social Care
The university does not have a dedicated medical centre; students are asked to register with a local surgery. After a successful student campaign there are now nursery facilities on campus, and religious provision is available at prayer rooms and nearby mosques and churches.
What's on in the Area
Hendon is surrounded by greenery, including golf courses, playing fields and a nearby reservoir. Sports fans are well-served by nearby Wembley stadium, which also hosts its own retail park. For nights out, most students head to the campus bar or into Central London for pubs, clubs and gigs.
Moving On
Employability is improving at MU, which provides a dedicated careers service and encourages students to organise work placements during their degrees.
