The University of London Institute in Paris (ULIP) is located in the heart of the French capital, close to Les Invalides and the Seine.    
 

Background and History

ULIP has been teaching language, culture and history of France to British students since 1894, when it was founded as the Franco-British Guild.

Location and Accessibility

Driving to the institute is not advisable as parking is scarce in the centre of the city. The nearest Metro station is Assemble Nationale.

Accessibility: Most facilities at the institute are wheelchair-accessible.

ULIP is a specialised institute whose mission is to promote the study of the language, culture and literature of France and Paris. The institute has also recently opened the Centre for the Study of European and North African Relations (SENAR).

Tuition Fees

Undergraduate courses currently cost £9,000 per year. Fees for international students and postgraduates vary.

Academic Facilities

ULIP students benefit from access to a wide range of study resources and facilities, including several libraries, electronic information services and computing facilities. On-site support is provided through the Learning Resources Centre (LRC) and students are able to use a number of other academic facilities around the city.  

Other on-site amenities

ULIP's small, dedicated building is equipped with a large lecture theatre, classrooms, a library, cinema room, research suite, cafeteria and computing facilities. ULIP students also benefit from the wide range of sporting facilities provided by the city municipality.  

Medical and Social Care

Each student is assigned a personal tutor who provides advice and support on academic and personal matters. The ULIP Student Union also offers a number of support services.

Did you know?

Former ULIP students include the Duchess of Cornwall, Fiona Bruce and Franois Gilot, Picasso's muse. Being a relatively small institution, ULIP is not featured in UK university league tables, the school does benefit from a long affiliation with the University of London however.
