Arts University Bournemouth (formerly The Arts University College at Bournemouth and The Arts Institute at Bournemouth) is a further and higher education university college based in Poole, specialising in arts, performance, design, and media. Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) was named No.1 creative university in the which? University 2012 survey.
Established in 1885 as a specialist institution, Arts University Bournemouth is now a leading University offering high quality specialist education in art, design, media and performance across the creative industries. AUB is one of only fifteen higher education institutions in the UK devoted solely to the study of art, design and media. The University has been providing specialist education for over a century and enjoys a strong reputation, both nationally and internationally.
The University is situated between Bournemouth and Poole in Dorset on the South Coast of England. Bournemouth has a large cosmopolitan student population and one of the most vibrant club scenes outside London. London itself is less than two hours away and is easily reached by regular train and coach services or via good motorway links. Bournemouth and Southampton both have international airports providing good value flights to more than 50 destinations. Bournemouth airport is currently undergoing a £45 million redevelopment programme which will include the installation of Cat III navigation and lighting aids, a new international arrivals hall, plus improved check in, security and departure hall facilities. The redevelopment will be phased over the next couple of years. There are also regular sea crossings to the Continent from Poole and Southampton.

As Bournemouth and Poole are major tourist towns there is a wide range of accommodation available and it is much cheaper than other parts of the country, such as London.
There are three types of accommodation available for students:
- Halls of residence on campus and in Bournemouth town centre
- Privately rented self-catering accommodation - houses or flats shared with other students or with the landlord, or living on your own in a studio flat
- Living with a host family in a private home, often with breakfast and evening meal provided
The University offers courses in the following subject areas: Art, Graphics, Architecture, Film, Photography, Fashion and Performance
Whether you pay tuition and exam registration fees will depend upon your age. You will be required to pay a small annual course material fee to cover the cost of the supplies you will use throughout the year. You will not have to pay Tuition Fees if you are under 19 on 1st September of the year that your course commences. For students over 19 the fee for courses is currently £2000 (full-time) and £850 (part-time) per annum. For students over 24 the fee for courses are currently £4000 (full-time) and £850 (part-time) per annum. You will have to pay Tuition Fees if you are an international student.
The Gallery at Arts University Bournemouth offers a unique space in the South West for the arts including design, media and performance. Showcasing work from contemporary artists, The Gallery has forged important links with regional arts organisations including: Aspex, Russell Cotes Art Gallery and Museum, Dorset Visual Arts and Arts Bournemouth. The Gallery runs a number of artist talks, events and film nights to support the exhibition programme. The library is a state of the art building, the design of which reflects both attention to detail and the use of high quality materials and landscaping.
The Library has over 50,000 books covering a huge range of art, design, media and performance subjects, with a further collection of more than 45,000 e-books all of which can be found and accessed through the Library catalogue. In addition the Library has over 300 specialist journal titles on the shelves, with many available online.The University is a compact institution with over 3,000 students based on one campus. Students are based within one campus which is located in Poole, next to Bournemouth University and Wallisdown. The Campus houses specialist workshops and workspaces, a Gallery, a Museum of Plastics and a Library. The Enterprise Pavilion (EP) on the campus is a unique, independent initiative to develop, attract and retain new creative businesses in the South West.
