North Warwickshire and Hinckley College is a Further Education provider with main campuses in Nuneaton and Hinckley. It caters to around 26,000 students, ranging from school leavers, adults and HE undergraduates, and recently opened several new campuses in 2011.
Background and history
The College began life in 1910 as the 'Nuneaton Technical College' and the 'Nuneaton School of Art' respectively. It relocated after the First World War and in 1923 became the 'County Mining and Technical School' in 1932. In 1952 the Art School was amalgamated with the College to form the 'Nuneaton Technical College and School of Art' and in 1958 the main campus was relocated to Hinckley Road where it currently remains. Up until 1996 the institution was known the North Warwickshire College of Technology and Art until the merger with Hinckley College led to its re-branding as North Warwickshire and Hinckley College.
Location and accessibility
Most of the college's campuses are located in and around the town centre of Nuneaton, thus benefiting from good transport links in the form of road, bus and rail. However, it has further learning centres towards Bedford and Atherstone and subsequently, the college provides a handy map detail the extent of its reach throughout the county. Students can collect bus passes for Arriva and Stagecoach Services from College. There is also a free shuttle bus between the two main campuses.
