LSE is situated within the City of Westminster between Covent Garden, Holborn and Aldwych and across the road from King's College. There are 30 academic buildings centred on the old Clare Market, extending up to the picturesque Lincoln's Inn Fields. Founded by a group of Fabians in 1896, LSE quickly became part of the University of London and began issuing degrees. Since then it has become a powerhouse of research into social and political science, attracting huge amounts of research funding and students from around the world.

Location and Accessibility

By Rail: The nearest underground stations are Holborn, Temple and Covent Garden which provide connections throughout London. Charing Cross is the nearest national rail connection with Waterloo station also reasonably close by.

By Road: Driving to LSE is not advised as it is within the congestion charging zone and parking is limited in central London. A number of bus services stop at Kingsway and Aldwych and many of them run 24 hours a day.

Most facilities are wheelchair friendly and accommodation is available designed for usage by people with disabilities.

Entry Requirements

LSE has very strict entry requirements and is highly competitive for places. As well as the standard conditions LSE also requests that students take a maximum of one subject at A-level from the list of non-preferred' subjects and that re-takes of exams are minimised.
