About Bishop Auckland College

The Bishop Auckland College was established in 1950 as the Technical Institute. Bishop Auckland College is situated in the town of Auckland, County Durham, next to St John's Catholic School and has 8,500 students, around 1,000 of which are full-time. It also offers a wide range of Apprenticeships and Higher Education courses at its main college campus in Woodhouse Lane or at its other Community Learning Centres located in Barnard Castle, Crook, Newton Aycliffe and Spennymoor.

Facilities at Bishop Auckland College

Courses at the Bishop Auckland College lead to nationally validated qualifications. The college also works closely with the University of Sunderland and local employers.

The College has invested over £40 Million in state-of-the-art facilities including new sound recording, music and performing arts facilities, construction and motor vehicle training workshops, a design centre for 3D, fashion, graphic design, fine art and multimedia, and a Higher Education Student Centre in partnership with the University of Sunderland.

Bishop Auckland College students and local people also benefit from the Mitre Restaurant that offers healthy and competitively priced meals, from the college's salons, and the Sports Hall with climbing wall and fitness suite.
