About Roehampton University
Address and Location
Roehampton is a campus university set over three sites in South-West London. The institute makes claim to being home to 'London's most beautiful campus'; all three facilities are within a short walking distance of each other and surrounded by leafy green spaces.Background and History
Roehampton contains four constituent colleges, all of which started life as teacher-training institutes in the mid-nineteenth century. Whitelands, Southlands and Digby Stuart College were established as Anglican, Methodist and Roman Catholic foundations, while Froebel College was founded to promote the methods of the educationalist of the same name. The four colleges merged together in 1975 and in 2004 the institute became a university in its own right.Location and Accessibility
By Rail: The nearest rail connection to the university campuses is Barnes Station, a mile north. The nearest Tube station is East Putney, two miles from campus.
By Road: Driving to Roehampton can be tricky given the limited space for parking on campus. Access is easiest via the M4 through Chiswick.Accessibility: Most university facilities are wheelchair-accessible and accommodation is provided for students with disabilities.

Academic Strengths and Research Profile
During the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, Roehampton's departments of drama and biological anthropology were rated best in the country in their respective fields. The university focuses strongly on the arts and humanities and has a reputation for high teaching standards in those areas. Few science subjects are taught at the university.Tuition Fees

Academic Facilities
The university has a large library with an expanding collection of journals and e-books. IT provision is good, with most computer rooms open 24-hours daily. Many teaching facilities have been recently refurbished and research laboratories are of a high standard.Other on-site Amenities
The university Students' Union operate 12 bars and cafes across campus, and are highly active in providing societies and clubs for student recreation. On-site sports facilities are excellent and include a sports hall, gym, football pitches and access to the National Tennis Centre.Medical and Social Care
On campus is a medical centre offering GP services and sexual-health screening. The university has an active chaplaincy, with groups in place to support those of Hindu, Jewish and Islamic beliefs.
What's on in the Area
Golf and tennis, mainly: with two eighteen-hole greens and the National Tennis Centre on the university's doorstep, sporting students are well-provided for. Fulham's Craven Cottage is also close. Putney is full of green spaces and Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park are nearby, so it's easy to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Equally, the bright lights of the London are never too far away; the centre of the capital is a Tube-ride away and nearby Clapham is great for nights out.
Moving On
Student employability is high at Roehampton, the university regularly ranks as best for graduate employment among British universities created after 1992. Sandwich courses are available for students wanting to gain work experience while they learn.
