New College Swindon

The New College offers Further and Higher education options in Swindon. It was established in 1983 and is one of the largest institutions in the UK with over 3,000 16-18 years-old and 1,500 over 19 years-old students. New College, Swindon offers the right programmes and training opportunities for employers including leisure, academic and vocational courses from Foundation Level to Degree level and beyond. With over 65 choices (some unusual like Ceramics, Archaeology or Environmental Studies) it is the largest AS/A level provider in Swindon.

New College, Swindon was awarded the 'Matrix' award by the UK Government for their high standard of customer service. In 2005 there was a lot of criticism due to high prices of food in the refectory and over-crowding, but some of these issues have been addressed with the 2012 campus extension.

The New College, Swindon was rebuilt from 2003 to 2012 adding state-of-the-art facilities to help students. All over the campus there are a large number of computer rooms for general and specialist use (over 1,600 devices) while the Library is well-stocked and kept up-to-date. The Sports Centre helps students stay fit and in shape with the help of the Sports Hall and Fitness Suite.

In 2011 a new annexe was opened providing a Student Zone and new restaurant, an Extended Open Learning Centre, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Zone, Hair and Beauty Salons, a lecture theatre and a Business Enterprise zone.
